A man arrested for stealing Copper Cables

A 64-year-old man is expected to appear before the Barberton Magistrate Court on Tuesday for stealing copper cables. He was arrested on Friday by members of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation at Nelspruit .

They received information about the owner of a scrap metal dealer who was selling suspected stolen copper cables. The Hawks members accompanied by private investigators proceeded to the address and on arrival, the team identified the alleged stolen property. The suspect failed to produce any documents to show that he own the cables.

The suspect was arrested and investigation led the team to his business where other suspected Telkom stolen copper cables were found and seized. The value of the cables is not yet determined.
