A 51-year-old man and his two daughters aged 13 and 9, died in a suspected Gender-Based Violence incident which happened at Nkowankowa Section B outside Tzaneen on Monday morning.
The deceased man was identified as Tsakani Mboweni. He was a manager at Statistics SA, Mopani District .Mboweni allegedly set alight the house while he was inside with his two daughters.
The Police say they are investigating two counts of murder and an inquest.
The Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale said the social workers were sent to the scene to provide psychosocial support to grieving families. “ I want to take this opportunity to send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family”.
As the social workers offer free services, people are urged to make use of them when faced with problems.
“Incidents of GBV are happening at an alarming rate in the province, hence we are calling on all the people to contact our social workers when they are experiencing difficulties in their relationships and families. We have our family preservation programs that are aimed at assisting families that are in conflicting and toxic relationships” concluded Rakgoale.
