The North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari has expressed sadness after 5 people died on the scene, when two vehicles collided on N4 near Groot Marico on Sunday afternoon.
It is alleged that the driver of the other vehicle with two people, made a U-turn on the highway. An oncoming car with three people hit it on the side. N4 is one of the busiest national routes linking Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
Lehari sent condolences to the families of the deceased. “We are deeply saddened by this crash on one of our busiest roads. Our deepest condolences to the deceased families.”
He pleaded with motorists to drive safely and be patient.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
