The Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairperson Dr Irvin Khoza on Wednesday announced that the new season under the new sponsorship of DSTV is set to start on 17 October 2020.
The 2020/21 season will kick off with MTN 8 on 17 October while DSTV Premiership start on 24 October. Fixtures will be announced.
However, Telkom and PSL parted ways. Khoza also said that the 16 teams competition Telkom Knockout Cup will no longer be available in the 2020/21 season due to financial constraints. The competition will be played in the 2021/22 under a new sponsor.
He also said the end of season awards will no longer be the same as finance has been a challenge. Good thing is that PSL staff and players are getting paid accordingly.
The PSL awards will take place before the start of the season and a date will be confirmed in due course.
