Covid-19 cases in SA exceed 600 000

Over the last 24 hours, 661 936 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in South Africa and 725 new cases have been identified.

The total number of reported COVID-19 related deaths in South Africa currently stands at 15 992.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 4 047 723 with 6 180 new tests conducted since the last report.

Health Ministry reported 39 new COVID-19 related deaths, 9 from Eastern Cape, 9 from Gauteng, 1 from KwaZulu Natal, 16 from North West and 4 Western Cape.

The number of recoveries currently stands at which translates to a recovery rate of 89.3, meaning that almost 591 208 people have so far recovered.

People are urged to observe social distancing and wash their hands with soap and water or alcohol based sanitizer.
