Minor appears in court for alleged murder of a 4 -year-old girl

A 16-year-old minor appeared at the Bloemhof Magistrates’ Court ( Northwest) on Tuesday on a charge of murder. The minor who is being processed in terms of the Child Justice Act, 2008 (Act No. 75 of 2008), was arrested on Monday, 21 September 2020.

He was handed over to the police by a local pastor whom he allegedly confided in that he killed a young girl and left her body in the bushes not far from Boitumelon , a township 5km from Bloemhof.

According to a statement issued by Northwest Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone, reports suggest that the little girl was last seen in the company of a man in the evening along the N12 road near Boitumelo Location. That was after she went missing while playing with other children outside the yard at her parental home. An enquiry was opened on Sunday afternoon, 20 September 2020, after a four-year-old girl was reported missing.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed his shock over the killing of a four-year-old by the minor.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday, 14 October 2020, for legal representation.
