The Nkowankowa Testing Station in Limpopo will be closed for a week due to a burglary that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is believed that five men wearing balaclavas, armed with firearms and explosives tied the security guard on duty before breaking into the offices through a window.
The Greater Tzaneen Municipality spokesperson Neville Ndlala said that the perpetrators forced their way into the strong room by blowing the door with explosives.
Their aim was to go after the safe but they were unsuccessfully to open it before ransacking offices leaving extensive damage.
Ndlala said people who have already made bookings for their driver’s licence at the very same station will be assisted. “We will honour the learners and driver’s license bookings for Monday, 21 September 2020, however , bookings from Tuesday onwards will be rearranged and direct contact will be made with those who have made bookings.”
The police are investigating the matter and anyone with information can Warrant Phakula on 073 161 1306.
