The Hawks in Limpopo arrested a 58-year-old suspect on Thursday for taking a R2.500 bribe in 2018 and failed to comply with a court order.

The suspect, who is a manager at the Department of Higher Education in Modimolle is said to have demanded money from a job seeker whom he promised to employ at the department.

A job seeker alerted the law enforcement officials who managed to secure a three-year sentence against him which was wholly suspended for five years on 23 January 2020.

The provincial Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba said the Modimolle Magistrate Court also ordered him to pay the victim an amount of R16 250 on or before 31 July 2020.

However, the suspect failed to do so and again, this was reported to the authorities which led the court to issue a warrant of arrest.

The Hawks went to his workplace and arrested him in Bela Bela. He will appear in the Modimolle Magistrate Court on Friday for contempt of court.
