Health Minister confirms 649 793 COVID-19 cases

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize confirmed that 649 793 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in South Africa and 1 579 new cases have been recorded.

The total number of reported COVID-19 related deaths in South Africa currently stands at 15 447.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 918 478 with 15 692 new tests conducted since the last report.

Health Ministry regrettably reported 20 new COVID-19 related deaths, 4 from Eastern Cape, 6 from Gauteng, 4 from KwaZulu Natal, 6 from Western Cape.

The number of recoveries currently stands at which translates to a recovery rate of 88,9% , meaning that almost  577 906 people have so far recovered.
