The killing of women around the country keeps on increasing each day. The Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale sent her condolences to the family of two women who were found murdered along the R37 road outside Polokwane. They were abducted from their home on Thursday, 10 September.

The Police said the business-woman Lizette Deacon, and her mother, Hettie, were reported missing on Thursday. The two were well known as the owners of the Ocean Basket franchises in Polokwane.

“This latest attack on women comes on the very day we were discussing GBV as government, during the Virtual Imbizo on GBVF. The violent manner in which the pair was attacked then tells us that there is more that still needs to be done in protecting the rights of the vulnerable people of our society.” Rakgoale said.

Rakgoale further said that they have immediately dispatched social workers to the family and also to the two shops that were owned by one of the victims, for them to start providing psychosocial support.

Meanwhile, the DA in Limpopo said the province recorded 8519 cases of crimes against women and 2807 crimes against children in the recently released crime statistics. The party sent condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The police are still searching for the suspect (s).
