COVID-19 death toll rises to 15 168

The total number of reported COVID-19 related deaths in South Africa currently stands at 15 168.

Over the last 24 hours, the country recorded 642 431 confirmed COVID-19 with 1 990 new cases identified. The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 842 898 with 21 736 new tests conducted since the last report.

Health Ministry regrettably reported  82 new COVID-19 related deaths- 5 from Eastern Cape, 27 from Gauteng, 10  from KwaZulu Natal, 22 from Western Cape , 8 from Free State and 10 from Mpumalanga.

The number of recoveries currently stands at which translates to a recovery rate of 88.7%, meaning that almost 570,000 people have so far recovered
