Clicks health and Beuty retailer will be trading as normal on Monday despite the call by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) for strike action and closure of stores. EFF said the Clicks participated in the public dehumanization of black people through an advert that presented black the hair of black women as “damaged” in comparison to white hair which is described as normal, fine and flat.
Clicks said it provides a much- needed health care services to South Africans and stores won’t be closed. It said contingency plans have been put in place to ensure the safety of both staff and customers. Clicks said it had taken full accountability and apologized for the advertisement published on its website.
EFF said the Clicks participated in the public dehumanization of black people through an advert that presented black the hair of black women as “damaged” in comparison to white hair which is described as normal ,fine and flat. EFF called on Clicks to close and open on Saturday the 12th of September. EFF is of the view that Clicks is not genuine with its apology.
The red berets said if Clicks doesn’t close, their members in all branches will shut down 880 clicks outlets in the country from Monday the 7th to Friday the 11th of September 2020.
