The Durban Serious Corruption Investigation on Friday arrested a 51- year-old medical doctor who has been on the run for two years for alleged fraud and corruption.
The doctor is accused for processing fraudulent disability grants between 2005 and 2008 at Ngwelezane. In light of the alleged fraud, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), deployed their District Manager, Thembinkosi Gobza Dlamini (36), to investigate the matter further.
Dlamini was then shot and killed in his office six days after commencing with the internal investigations.
Six suspects, Richard Nhleke (33), Smanga Madonsela (30), Mduduzi Linda (29), Jabulile Mthethwa (56), Thandiwe Sikhosana (44) and Phumzile Shange (58) were found guilty for murder and sentenced to life with an additional six years for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The doctor is expected to appear in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court on Monday.
