South African National Parks (SANPARK’s) week is a campaign that takes place annually. This campaign allows South Africans to gain free access to parks owned by SANPARKs , excluding Namaqua National Park and Boulders Section at Table Mountain National Park.
SANParks in partnership with Total South Africa and FNB are set to host the 15th annual SA National Parks week starting on November 16-20. SANParks aims to increase the number of South African citizens who gain free access to their parks during the free access week. The campaign commenced in 2006 and a number of about 551 393 South African citizens had been afforded the chance to visit the national parks.
SANParks Chief Executive Officer, Fundisile Mketeni said, “The week in partnership with Total South Africa and FNB is meant to cultivate a sense of pride in South Africa’s natural, cultural and historical heritage and a deeper appreciation of biodiversity. It is important for South Africans to visit and know the importance of national parks.”
