Mbalula officially opened route project

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula on Thursday officially opened the Pampoennek route project connecting North West and Gauteng. The Pampoennek Route Project is one of many Sanral projects that are currently in progress within the Bojanala District. The road construction costs R 377m.

The route construction has generated 182 permanent jobs for locals with a R21.2 million expenditure. One hundred and eighty locals were offered an opportunity to undergo training with an accredited training service provider at a cost of R430 855.25.

Twelve sub-contractors were employed in the project at a total cost of R74.6 million. Sub-contractors were responsible for civil work, traffic accommodation and stone pitching.

Mbalula said Investments in road infrastructure is not only about economic benefits, but is also about halting the carnage on our roads.
