The community members of Tshitavha Village in Thohoyandou in Limpopo are up in arms after the disappearance of a 26 year old Netshilavulu Phathutshedzo who went missing on Friday, 21 August.
The members are alleged that Phathutshedzo’s disappearance is very suspicious. They blocked the road with stones and burning tree branches.
The police were called to help in locating Phathutshedzo but the search didn’t bear good results. This angered the community members and some started the violent protest in which three community members aged between 22 and 31, were arrested Friday night. They will appear in Thohoyandou magistrate court on Monday 31 August 2020 on charges of Public Violence
The provincial Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said they condemned the actions of community members as the officers had to deal with the clearing of the road for two consecutive days, from Wednesday night as well as Thursday night.
Phathutshedzo told his mother that he is going to the shop but sadly he never returned.
He was last seen wearing a blue UZZI tracksuit top with red dots in front and cream white Bermuda. Anyone with information may contact Warrant Officer Nndanganeni Maginya on 082 414 5654 or the Crime stop number 0860010111.
