South Africa is continuing with a battle against rape and no sign of winning it. Two females aged 23 from University of Venda (Univen) in Limpopo were allegedly gang-raped at the bush on Tuesday.
The provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said it is alleged that four suspects, one armed with a firearm broke into the rooms of three students outside the University premises in Thohoyandou P West. They robbed a 30-year-old male student of his money and a cellphone. The suspects proceeded to the other rooms, where they also robbed two female students of cellphones and a laptop.
As if that was not enough, Motlafela said “The suspects thereafter, dragged the two victims, both aged 23 to the nearby bush and gang-raped them.”
The Police in Thohoyandou launched a manhunt for unknown suspects who will be facing cases of house robbery and two counts of rape.
Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects is requested to contact Detective Sergeant Takalani Mulaudzi on 082 487 6319 or may call the Crime stop number 0860010111.
Police investigations are continuing.
