The Hoedspruit Police in the Mopani District Municipality in Limpopo have opened an inquest case , after a 69-year-old lion owner was allegedly killed by two of his lions at the Lion Tree Game Lodge, Guernsey Nature Reserve on Wednesday.
It is believed that the two lionesses attacked Arthur Mathewson during one of their usual walks. His wife saw everything and just watched helplessly
When the police and emergency personnels arrived at the scene, they declared Mathewson dead.
The lionesses are still alive and healthy, however, they were sedated and moved to another game lodge.
