COVID-19 cases in South Africa exceed 600 000

South Africa recorded 603 338 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 3 398 new cases identified on Friday.

The total number of tests conducted to date is 3 504 507 with 24 224 new tests conducted since the last report. The Health Ministry regrettably reported 225 new COVID-19 related death.

This brings the total number of reported COVID-19 related deaths to 12 843. The number of recoveries currently stands at 500 102 which translates to a recovery rate of 82%.   

On his address to the Nation last week Saturday, President Cyril Ramaphosa urged South Africans not to be complacent or abandon the health precautions.

People are urged to continue washing hands with soap and water or with alcohol based sanitizer and to always maintain social distancing.
