Three suspects aged 46,31,28 have been arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman in Kwa Thema, in Springs.
The incident took place on 15 August 2020 at about 04:00 in Geduld. It is alleged the victim had visited one of the suspect at his residential place and was together with his friends, they had some few drinks and was then around midnight left alone, locked inside the suspects room.
All three suspects later came back in the early hours of the morning and had allegedly violently attacked the victim and took turns in raping her and was later released.
The matter was reported to the police and with swift reaction police went on a man hunt to look out for the suspects and were positively identified by the victim and arrested.
In a statement, Kwa Thema Police said they have high level of commitment in the fight against Gender based violence and they will ensure that women and children are and feel safe in the community. “ There is zero tolerance to such heinous crimes in our society.”
Investigation is still on going and suspects will appear at Springs Magistrate Court soon.
