Trump’s April promise became a reality when Nigeria received 200 ventilators from the United States to help its fight against coronavirus, health officials said on Wednesday.

A senior official in the minister’s office said to AFP, “The items were received by minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire from the US ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Mary Leonard, in Abuja yesterday.”

The source added that Eharine thanked President Trump and the US government for their generosity and friendly gesture.

Trump made a pledge of ventilators in a telephone conversation with president Muhammad Buhari on the 28th April.

The virus emerged in Nigeria in late February. Its infections are currently standing on 47 290 of which 956 have been fatal.
