The Limpopo health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba sent her heartfelt condolences to the family of a security officer who was allegedly shot by his colleague while on duty.
The victim, together with the suspect, were stationed at Nyavani Clinic at Xihoko outside Tzaneen. The suspect allegedly shot the victim several times using a service pistol before she fled the scene. The security officer was immediately rushed to Letaba Hospital. He died on Saturday.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect was tracked down. She was found at her boyfriend’s place at Shihoko and was arrested. “She was still dressed in uniform. The firearm that is believed to be the one used in the shooting was also confiscated.”
The 49-year-old female suspect is expected to make appearance in Ritavi Magistrate Court on 14 August 2020.
