SA’s football kicked off for the first time in five months with Bloemfontein Celtics proceeding to the Nedbank finals after beating Baroka FC by 3-0 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Siwelele’s striker, Ndumiso Mabena gave Bakora a hard time in the first two minutes of the game when he missed a goal. Celtics continued to dominate the game until their defender, Mpusana Tani had a muscle strain during the 22nd minute and had to be taken out.
Ananius Gebhardt from Baroka got a red card after playing carelessly leaving his team with only 10 men against 11. Mabena came through for Siwelele’s on the 4th minute of the added time before half time making them lead by 1-0.
During the second half of the game Baroka FC used some of the chances they got to no avail. Baroka’s hopes broke when Celtic was awarded a penalty on the 84th minute. Victor Letsoalo scored the penalty and another goal at the last minute of the second half, giving Siwelele a 3-0 win.
The second Nedbank semi-final will be between Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits later on Saturday (today) at 19:15. The winning team will go against Bloemfontein Celtic in the finals.
