North West SANTACO Provincial Secretary Velakhe Andrew Naphakade has died. He was rushed to the hospital after suffering severe headache where his body ultimately succumbed. This is according to a report received by the Office of the MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management.
MEC Sello Lehari , said Naphakade was at the forefront of stabilising the industry in the Province. “He was gentle and humble but didn’t droop on his conviction that the industry should be safe and standardised where safety is a constant feature.”
Naphakade worked for South African Police Services which he left 15 years ago to venture into farming. But he had already been involved in the taxi industry since 2002.
In 2007 he became the chairperson of the Jouberton Taxi Organization. That was the beginning of his long journey serving in leadership of the industry in Klerksdorp culminating in becoming the SANTACO North West Provincial Secretary since four years ago.
He will be laid to rest on Friday, 07 August 2020 in Klerksdorp.
