North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari on Wednesday led senior management to the disinfecting of the taxi ranks and Provincial Traffic offices in Brits. MEC Lehari was accompanied by Madibeng Community Safety MMC Marcus Machete.
Lehari urged taxi operators to observe loading guidelines. “We can beat this virus when we work together. When we comply with loading regulations and observe social and physical distancing”.
The process of disinfecting taxi ranks follows the distribution of the PPE’s to Taxi operators, which began in April 2020. Lehari committed that the disinfection program will continue for the next five months.
MEC Lehari paid tribute to North West SANTACO Provincial Secretary, Mr Velakhe Naphakade who died last week.
